What's unusual about this 2nd-story apartment over a garage?
First, most people who contact us do not already have a floorplan or architectural drawings. Typically, our design specialists help homeowners to review the design options that fit for them, then produce whatever plans or blueprints are needed to calculate a preliminary budget and then obtain the building permit.
As for this project, as you can see from the floorplans here, this is a garage with an RV bay plus an adjacent car bay (with a 2 bedroom apartment above). This roofline matched the main home.
Personally, I do not like how there is so much headroom over the car bay (which is the same height as the other bay, but just with a garage door that is no so high). While the priority is typically to match the appearance of the main home, I prefer designs that put the apartment over the car bays, but not over the RV bay, such as this one: apartment over 3-car garage with adjacent RV bay.
