What's unusual about this 2-story garage?
First, most people who contact us do not already have a floorplan or architectural drawings. Typically, we help homeowners to review the design options that fit for them, then create whatever plans or blueprints are needed to get the building permit. (Note that in many locations, it is "very highly recommended" to closely comply with any zoning and permit requirements that apply to your property.)
In this case, the homeowners had a rather unusual focus. Instead of storing cars or an RV, they wanted to store a boat plus some heavy farming equipment. They also wanted a large 2nd-story space for use as an office. To the left of the photo below, you can see where the interior stairway goes up to the second story.
Fortunately for them, the pre-construction measurements showed that the ground was quite flat and did not need much grading or excavation. After paying a deposit for the initial design and permitting, it was only a few weeks later that the construction was ready to begin. A final bid was made (based on the approved plans), and another payment was made so that the footers and foundation were started (and quickly finished). Next came the first stages of the framing of the 2-story garage.
Within a few days, all of the framing was completed.
Then the roofing was installed.
Next was the installation of the siding.
